Open Question: How do you remove a plastic scuff from a wooden dresser?

I accidentally put an approximately 6" scuff from a plastic toolbox on the top of my friend's dresser! The scuff measures about a half centimeter wide (pretty thin). I'm wondering how I can remove this scuff while keeping her dresser looking in tip-top shape. The surface that the scratch is on is real wood and the scuff came from a soft , black-colored plastic. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser?
