Open Question: How much should I charge for shoveling snow tomorrow?So this huge Nor'easter is supposed to be gone tomorrow and I was gonna go out to shovel driveways. These driveways are two car widths wide, and about 25 yards long. The snow is about 2-3 inches of heavy slush, and 8 inches of wet snow on top. How much should I charge, and what time should I start going door-to-door? Open Question: What would be used today to replace the insulating fireboard under a wood stove?I seem to remember wood-burning stoves used to be placed atop a layer of bricks (I assume for thermal mass) with insulating asbestos "fire board" under the bricks to prevent heat loss into the floor/ground. What would somebody use instead of asbestos today? It would obviously need to both stand up to high heat and weight. Open Question: boiler is noisy sometimes, but not always....?When our radiators are all on (theres 7 of them) the boiler doesnt complain, it just gets on with its job! because of the hideous prices brittish gas charge, we mainly only have one radiator on. This causes the boiler to make a screeching high pitched whine that goes right through the house (and you can slightly hear it through the pipes) its really irritating me now.
