Every installation guide I find tells me I absolutely need a stud when installing on a plaster board. However, I could not find a stud in my apartment wall and the plasterboard (if it is that - not quite sure of the material, the building was originally built in 1952 - if anyone has any insight on what it could be I'd appreciate it) was 2 to 3" deep. I used concrete spacers with the screws (which were also about 2 - 3" in depth). It seems exceptionally sturdy. Am I ok are or am I being delusional? Open Question: How do I loosen a spring, or make it have less tension?I have a standard metal spring, with two loops on each end. I can't pull the spring loose becuase I need it to be the same length when I'm done with it. I can't add another spring because it won't fit. Will reducing the number of turns alone cause the spring to have less tension or more? Open Question: will bullseye 1 2 3 spray work for covering up old water stain on ceiling?my shower was leaking through the fixtures and down to the lower level ceiling. I re-caulked and there is no more leak. However, I have some water stain on the ceiling. I saw some Bullseye 1 2 3 spray made by Zessinger. It has a tint to it that makes it go with the rest of the ceiling instead of having to re-paint it all. Does anyone have experience with this product? does it work? if not, what works best for this situation? thanks for the info. Open Question: Soundown??? School project! Soundproofing?Well I'm doing a project. We have to invent something. I'm not going to tell of course but It includes soundproofing so after some research I found soundown. Altough after loads more research I still don't know the properties (Texture, width etc.) So if you know anything about soundown or if you know of any better soundproofing material(soft) it would help ALOT! Open Question: Cellophane and Christmas lights for a party WILL IT MELT?I'm having a cruise theme party and want to use blue cellophane for decoration as water... I thought it would look pretty if I laid some white christmas lights underneath the cellophane to make it sparkle Will this cause a fire or are the christmas light strands not strong enough? Open Question: how can i make the painted area above shower waterproof?hello, i have a shower that splatters water up above the fiberglass(i am tall) and that painted area is moldy. I scraped the paint off the effected area and put bleach on there to kill the mold. Is my next step to put on plaster to get the area level? then put on Kilz2 water-based primer? then put on the paint with this M-1 Advanced Mildewcide paint additive? i want to make sure i am doing the right thing before starting. thanks for any advice.
