I just moved into this house in the past year and.... The shutter for my attic fan doesn't close "tight." I don't see how it can since it opens when the fan is turned on and just falls shut when the fan is turned off. It is 32 X 32. I'm sure I lose a lot of heat through it in the winter and I don't' really use it in the summer. I live in Atlanta and use A/C in the summer. Since heat rises and cold air fails I'm mostly concerned with loose heat through the shutters verses cool air. My questions are: would it be better to cover the fan opening in the winter from above (in the attic)? or from below (like maybe clip something over the fan from down below?)
