Open Question: Flamco T-Plus Self-Cutting Steel Pipe Tee - who uses them?

I have some Flamco T-Plus 2.5" x 2.5" x 1.25" Steel Pipe Tee Connectors which I keep tripping up on (they're in the way!) I am wondering if anyone could suggest industries or professions (rather than general plumbing) in which they are used. I cannot think of any. They're self-cutting T-piece connectors to allow one to join a 1.25" BSP pipe to a running 2.5" steel or iron pipe without isolating the supply. Rather like those ones you get for adding a new outside tap, but on an industrial scale. They are powered by a small explosive charge which is detonated by a hammer blow to one end. It all sounds quite fun, but I don't want to 'test' one however tempting the idea is...

Open Question: Few questions about starting to use my sewing machine?

These may be extremely dumb questions! but I just got a sewing machine for my birthday and want to start using it and have a few questions. I know how to load the sewing machine now... so thats good... Im just wondering 1. how I can slow it down. I feel like whenever I click on the pedal to sew it goes so fast that I cant move the clothes fast enough and it ends up sewing one over the other in the same spot and gets jammed instead of moving down a line. 2. Like I said I know how to load the thread in.. but before I used to sew by hand and obviously you always have to tie the ends.. and with the sewing machine the ends are just two peices untied.. am I supposed to tie them? how does it stay in the clothing? Thanks!
