The top of the table has water stains. In one spot the water took the finish off! I spray painted the stand in a red oil base paint and it looks pretty good, except the top. I didn't get a smooth finish. It seems all the uneven areas are now red uneven areas. I did sand before I painted. I don't have any wood filler, but I do have a five gallon bucket of sheetrock mud. Can I use sheetrock mud to fill in, sand it and repaint with the oil base paint? This stand will be used in my teenagers game room. It's on a concrete sub floor. I was getting a bid from a guy to do the carpet installation, and he said he could give me a bid on the removal too. He said it would take a couple guys 2-3 days to remove. I thought I could rent a chipping hammer or tile stripper and be done in a day. I've never done this before. Am I crazy to think I can do this in a day with one of those tools? Open Question: I need some insight on solar heating for a house? My wife and I are looking at this house that has solar heating and I just want to know a little more about how it all works. The house I'm guessing has solar panels on the roof. In the basement has what a peers to be a regular water heater, next to it is what I think is a solar water heater, it says something like "electric solar storage." Their are also rechargeable batteries in a different room. they look like car batteries, in a different room their is some kind of small engine that has battery hookups. Plus the solar panels create heat through its own system of ventilation through the house I think. Things I would like to know is how all this works, how long it last. P.S. Would their be a normal gas or electric furnace that operates with the solar unit? Open Question: Is it safe to use pressure treated wood for a dining room table?I was thinking of taking down an old weathered, meager-looking fence in my backyard and using some of the 4x4s and 2x4s to build a dining room table. The fence was there when we moved in and I'm assuming it's pressure treated. I know pressure treated lumber is treated with various chemicals. Is there anything in there that would make it sketchy to use for a table? Open Question: When painting, how do you keep paint from seeping underneath the painters tape?Supposedly, there is a way to prevent paint from seeping behind the painters tape. I saw it on tv, but didn't pay close enough attention. They were applying something over the tape using a paint brush. Anyone help me out? More Recent Articles
