Open Question: What is the CORRECT way to seal or paint new (cured) stucco? My handyman finished the EXTERIOR of my fireplace/chimney with stucco back in May, and then he disappeared. I am concerned, since I know it requires some kind of sealing or priming against the weather, but am not familiar with stucco surfaces. I live in Texas, where the sun bakes, and the rain pours! Are there any experts out there who can advise me? Open Question: Can a toilet tank valve be repaired in situ, or should I just get a plumber?A few months ago, I had a problem with a toilet tank float cup valve. The water just kept running unless I jiggled the arm that goes from the handle to the top of the valve. Then it just seemed to fix itself and worked fine for several months. Now it not only keeps running when the tank gets full, bit I also have to jiggle the arm to get it to refill the tank after a flush (it will flush with the water in the tank, but doesn't let any new water in unless I manipulate it). I wanted to know if maybe it just needed cleaning and if I could use something like an old toothbrush to do it? I'm a middle-aged woman alone and don't know much about plumbing repairs but would also like to avoid a costly visit by a professional plumber. The last time I had one about a year ago was $180 for 15 minutes to replace a trap in the bathroom sink. More Recent Articles |
