Open Question: Does anyone know the building regulations around air traps on soil systems?

I'm trying to figure out what building regulations currently require me to do with regards to air traps in my property. I've been advised that previously i required air admittance valves on both my the soil pipes in my bathroom and my kitchen and I'm not sure if they're required or not? The bathroom soil pipe has both the bath and sink running into it, but both have traps connected. The kitchen sink also has a trap under it. I'm told air admittance valves have to be above sink level which quite frankly would be ugly - are they necessary? Anyone with any real plumbing experience would be a great help!! Thanks!

Open Question: Can you build a brick wall over an existing dry wall?

I am considering renovating my garage as a do it yourself job. I currently have plain white dry wall in my garage with white dry wall ceilings. I was thinking that i would cover up the drywall with a beautiful dark brick wall instead and nail dark walnut wood planks to the ceiling. So my question is do i have to rip out the dry wall and then lay the brick or can I just lay the brick down in front of the drywall?
