Open Question: EXPENDING FOAM: Open & close cell foam? and more... Open Question: EXPENDING FOAM: Open & close cell foam?I have two options: buying close cell, fire resistant, R-7 per inch, 3 lb density foam for $12 per cubic ft. OR buying open cell, fire resistant, R-3.7 per inch, 0.75 density foam for $6.80 per cubic ft. SO, I would like your educated opinion on what should I buy. Thank you. P.S. I'm using foam with combination with fiberglass, just what to seal all small gaps to air proof. I do understand difference between open and closed cell Open Question: What should I make with cotton fleece?I bought this fabric bc I knew my mom would love it and I want to make her something but the fabric is cotton fleece and she lives in Texas. I'm afraid if I make her clothing she will only get to wear it a few times a year. Any ideas of what to make that aren't clothes related? Open Question: Is it worth it to install your own carpet?I'm fixing up my house and I've been able to do a lot of the work myself and save a lot of money, but I've been pricing carpet and it doesn't look like it would be that much cheaper to do it myself. The price for installation at Home Depot is $97. The price at another carpet store in town is $79. I have looked at carpet remnant places and the carpet wasn't that much cheaper there than it was at the normal stores. And when you factor in the rental/purchase of the equipment that I would need (knee kicker, seaming equipment), it comes out to the same price. Is there something I'm missing here? Open Question: can i replace a baxi glow worm fire from the 1980s without having the pipe work changed?i just want to replace the front as it looks awful id like a modern looking one i have to light the back boiler underneath the fire the water tank is upstairs. if i can replace it wheres the best place to get it from? Open Question: How do I get this stripped screw out?I just stirpped the head of a screw (again). Is there a drill bit or something I can buy to get the screw out? If so what is it called? Open Question: Sump Pump installation?I am planning on installing a sump pump in my basement soon. I don't have any perimeter drainage in my basement for now. i just plan on digging the pit and putting in the pump for now. My question is after i buy the basin, do i need to cut out the bottom or drill holes in the sides. it seems like i get different responses. If i drill holes all over do i drill them on the upper half or lower half of the basin? Also, is it ok to install the pit at any location of the basement or does it have to be in the lowest location? the problem i have is the lowest point of the basement is the finished area. Does it mattter? More Recent Articles
