Open Question: What do I do about mold behind the shower wall? and more... Open Question: What do I do about mold behind the shower wall?I want to change the tub surround, but I know there will be mold behind it. The previous owner cracked the shelf and didn't fix it, so moisture has had ample opportunity to get in. Who do I call to fix this? How much would it cost? What does it involve? Open Question: Why does the PVC drain pipe in my wall knock whenever draining hot water?Trust me, it's not the copper. It only does it when things are draining. Like, when the dishwasher drains it's hot water. Or, if I fill a sink with hot water, and then pull the plug. A little while after the drain begins to have hot water flow down it... it begins to knock inside the wall. I have a general idea of where it is. Any idea why this would be happening, what he dangers of letting it go on, and if there is an easy fix for it? I have only owned the house since November, and it has done it ever since we owned it. I know about expanding copper, and water hammer. Trust me, this is not that. Open Question: How do I unclog a sink?Ok, well, about a week ago my friend decided to shave his beard in my sink- and he didn't clean much of it out before he washed it down- so a bunch of hairs got stuck in the drain. So now, if I fill up the sink with water, it takes a really long time to drain out... So, I tried to stick my fingers in- that didn't work (because it has the four-pronged plug connected to it on top, preventing large things from going down there), and then I stuck the end up my tooth-brush in there, I don't know if I got to the hair, but it didn't do anything, and it barely fit anyway. . . So, I'm really kind of lost as to how to get the hair Out of the drain. . . unless I removed the plug, but I think that goes through the faucet, so I don't think I can do that. Any ideas would be really appreciated, thank you. By the way, it's got no type of drainage disposal or whatever - it's a bathroom sink. Open Question: question regarding gas log sets?Gas log sets that you can install in a fireplace come in two varieties, vented and unvented, what determines if a log set can be direct vented to the room or has to be vented up the chimney? I should note that I am speaking in regard to propane gas and not natural gas. More Recent Articles
